| Since the ancient times, there have been human cultures that have developed in the dark and remained there for the inquisitive curiosity of the human race. One such cult is that of the Freemasons. There are a lot of different opinions that are circulating throughout about this so called secretive society. Many people call them a very powerful group of people in control of government powers, while others just say they are another religious mystic group that practices weird rituals in secrecy. However, none of these are true. Yet, these stories have lent the Freemasonic society its legendary status in urban and religious mythology. That is what has created an army of myth hunters who are forever in search of Masonic regalia to find out more about this secret society. The society of freemasons is a brotherhood that was established somewhere between the late16th and 17th centuries and is not consigned to people of any religion or caste. The society aims at creating a better and more moral world. The motto of the freemasons revolves around the cry of the French Revolution, namely ‘Liberty, Equality and Fraternity’. Unlike popular myth, freemasonry is not a secret practice and is in fact, among the largest communities in the whole world with members in every continent. The only thing secretive about them is that they have a very select membership that is not available to anyone and everyone. Most Masonic regalia symbolize a theme of brotherly love, charity and truth. The most common symbol on the regalia is the square and compass. These are the principal symbols of freemasonry and can be found inscribed into their buildings and badges. With the changing times, the society has opened up a little more to the common public. There are a lot of stores, like the hiram shop, that deal in the sale of Masonic regalia and equipment that are collectibles for any interested individual. These include a number of lapels, tie pins, caps and other memorabilia that will make people feel connected to this organization. Being an institution, the freemasons have been held in high esteem through the ages for their superior quest for morality and truth. These memorabilia have come to symbolize people’s connections to these same values. These are not just collectibles but also items of interest for many masons themselves as a symbol of their decorated past. Stores selling Masonic regalia also stock up on items like Masonic swords, aprons and collars with square and compass symbols imprinted on them. These are collector’s edition pieces and much vied for by both masons and others. Many of these have a touch of artistic royalty to them as they are exquisitely created and aimed at perfection. If one were so inclined to find a store stocking on square and compass regalia, they can use the internet as an efficient medium of search. However, the credibility and originality of these stores must be checked and confirmed before one chooses to buy any thing from them. Sites like hiram shop are known for their expertise and exclusivity in collecting and storing exquisite and original freemason regalia. Clara Ray is the author of this article on Masonic Regalia.
